The starting point for estimating credit risk measures is to select the variables (economic and financial indicators) that reflect the economic and financial condition of local self-government units.
The variables used in creating credit risk measures may have different natures:
- stimulants - variables whose higher values reflect a better standing of a local self-government unit (bank's credit risk is lower),
- destimulants - variables whose higher values reflect a worse standing of a local self-government unit (bank's credit risk is higher),
- nominants - variables whose optimum values (reflecting the minimum credit risk of a bank) are within a certain range (or have a specifically-set value).
