The starting point for estimating investment risk measures is to select the variables (economic and financial indicators) that reflect the economic and financial condition of sectors of the economy.
The variables used in creating investment risk measures may have different natures:
- stimulants - variables whose higher values reflect a better standing of a sector (investment risk is lower),
- destimulants - variables whose higher values reflect a worse standing of a sector (bank's investment risk is higher),
- nominants - variables whose optimum values (reflecting the minimum investment risk) are within a certain range (or have a specifically-set value).
